Frank is looking good!
I wish my cactus would bear that kind of fruit. I get flowers and they don't have the juice. I have one cactus plant that will give me 1 like what you have. The rest are flowers.
There is a member here from Maryland. She grows cactus and claims they come back every year. I don't remember her name but I remember the conversation.

Hmmm 🤔 thx 😁,,, ..guess it couldn't hurt to give it a try. I have a bit of a green thumb. I think I will throw one in the ground and see what happens 🤷♀️...
I hear they root pretty easily. Would be cool if it works. 👍

When you plant the pad. If it is a fresh cut. Make sure the cut has scabbed over before planting.
You might also try starting a cactus in a pot. To get a good rooting before the cold weather comes. Then in the fall, plant in the ground and see what happens. I know other members in cold areas. Grow them in pots and bring them in for the winter.
I'm in Michigan and we have some native Opuntia here. I grow some in my yard and it has absolutely no problem with our winters. It's so incredibly hardy that some pads I haven't planted yet flowered while still in a cardboard box. I'm hoping to get fruit soon. If you can find some iteration of Opuntia humifusa at a native nursery nearby, it shouldn't have any problem growing in Pennsylvania. You can see there are lots of Opuntia species, some even grow as far north as Canada (click on "Subordinate Taxa"): https://plants.sc.egov.usda.gov/home/plantProfile?symbol=OPUNT
