Hey all, sorry, I’m probably driving y’all crazy, just curious as to if you think that this little one is still a girl, as she/he has matured quite a bit sense last post of her plastron, thoughts?
It is beginning to look male-like to me. The tail seems to be getting longer than I would expect on a female, but it is not truly definitive yet IMHO.Hey all, sorry, I’m probably driving y’all crazy, just curious as to if you think that this little one is still a girl, as she/he has matured quite a bit sense last post of her plastron, thoughts?
She is an Eastern Hermann’s Tortoise and is 3 and a 1/2 years old. She seems to be much more dialed down then my other two males, she like to sleep a lot, and is very lazy, when I have her/him with my male, the male tries to mount him/ her? Is that a normal domince thing in males too?It is beginning to look male-like to me. The tail seems to be getting longer than I would expect on a female, but it is not truly definitive yet IMHO.
How old is that tortoise and what species is it?
I could be wrong, but it looks more like a male than a female to me at this point. She is an Eastern Hermann’s Tortoise and is 3 and a 1/2 years old. Female, at that size if male the tail would almost reach the back legs.Anyone else think male?
Yes, I understand that… her plastron seems to be separating father at the anal scutes more than a female would?Female, at that size if male the tail would almost reach the back legs.
Thank you! Yes, they are separated; It looks like a juvenile. Can't tell the sex yet.
Do they live together? The presence of more dominant animals can suppress the appearance of the secondary sexual characteristics that help us identify the sexes of adults visually. It could also make a more submissive animal hide, become lethargic, and eat less. The low grade stress can also hamper the immune system. Might be time to separate them.
Post a picture right side up. I don't think male but I don't have enough experience to say that either.?Anyone else think male?

Yes, he did, but I have noticed the one that he said female looks like it’s maturing so I’m confused nowIt looks like Chris gave his opinion on your tortoises a few months back with a couple of the same pics.
