I noticed my Sulcata started having this pee yesterday. Now has slight diarrhea. Eats different kinds of dandelion, wild mustard, foxtail leaves, geranium,, and some ground clover. I gave them 3 small aeonium leaves the size of their body in their salad. I recently shifted the diet from mostly dandelions to mostly foxtail leaves. I just read that while aeonium is safe to feed, it's a laxative

I don't know aeonium, and what is a foxtail leaf? Foxtail is a grass. It doesn't have leaves.

You told me they could eat the single blade next to the foxtail. Let me see if I can find a picture of aeonium; I used Tortoise table to identify it and find out the laxative effect

Morla, my Russian tort, did that soon after I got her. I took her to the vet right away. She had severe dehydration because she doesn't drink enough on her own. She was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease which makes dehydration esp dangerous for her.

Your tortoise doesn't need the vet. Dandelion makes the urine color like that.

Copy that. You threw me when you used the term "leaf'. I always think of those as blades of grass. Thanks for clarifying.

I don't know about the big succulent. I always thought those kind of things, along with kalanchoe, were toxic. Sooooo many plant species to learn...

Be sure to take him to a vet that truly knows how to treat your breed of tort!

The diagnostics aren't cheap (you'll want blood work for a metabolic panel to test kidney and liver function, etc. and a CBC to check the blood itself). But it is SO worth it because such a relatively simple thing (the tube hydrating and extra soaks) have saved her life.

That stinks! Kamé LOVES it. I set a branch down by her and she went crazy for it. The site said it was good in moderation :/ but that was a different tort. Hamé is the one in question; he seemed somewhat indifferent and preferred filaree and dandelion... Since that one time I've only fed one small leaf I think. I'll cut it out for a week and see what happens

If I may, what area do you live in? I don't feel comfortable disclosing my location but I'm in SoCal if you have suggestions

Good SoCal tort vets? @KarenSoCal , @Tom , @Yvonne G , @maggie18fan , @ZEROPILOT ....I can't remember where u all live....but I think I can safely bet on you, KarenSoCal!
I only had Chug to a vet one time, for a wellness check before brumation. I took him to a VCA animal hospital in La Quinta. The vet was OK, but he does not sedate or operate on torts. And this place was horribly expensive!

I found another vet like him, but I have never had contact with them. They apparently see all kinds of reptiles. I believe they are very close to the OP.
