Hi everyone. Since I got Frankie (a Tunisian Spur-thighed tortoise) eight months ago, I've made it a habit to measure her size and weight once a month.
I use basic tools - ruler, weight scale, notepads and pens. Measurements taken are weight, length, width and height. I also do a fun imprint which Frankie absolutely hates because it involves holding still lol!
Our session this week went a little something like this:
Step 1: bring out ruler. Frankie sees this and bolts the other way
Step 2: pick up Frankie, bring her back and flip her on her back to measure length, width and height. Frankie spins, spins, rolls, hisses, complains complains
Step 3: place Frankie on scale to measure weight. Frankie pees on scale in protest
Step 4: measure weight. Calculate BMI.
Step 5: hold Frankie down to draw imprint.
She's familiar with step 5, knows it's the last step, so she's waiting like a coiled spring. I can almost feel her vibrating beneath my fingers
Once we're done, she zooms off! No looking back, No "thanks human", No wave, Nothing. SMH.
