Hi I am a new member from Saint Paul, Minnesota. I received my turtle Teak when my son and his wife had a baby and didn't want to expose the baby to the turtle. They rescued the turtle from a horrible pet store that has sent been shut down. They don't know what kind of turtle she is and neither do I. My best guess is between a Wood Turtle and a Desert Turtle. If anyone can identify her, I would love to know.

It's not a turtle. What you have is a adult male, northern variety Redfoot tortoise. They are tropical and native to South America. His nails need to be trimmed too. If your looking for a good care sheet check out

Tortoiselibrary.com

I own 3 of these guys so let me know if you have any questions.

Hello and welcome. My best guess, and it is just that would be Yellow Foot, but more knowledgeable people in these species will be along soon I am sure
It's a red foot with not a lot of red which is common with the northern ones. If it were a yellow foot it would have two large prefrontal nasal scales that this guy does not have.

What did you delete it for? There's absolutely nothing wrong with helping people and your answer was very close. In fact the care for a yellow and red and very similar so you were still helping.

Get a few more pics of the tail. It's pretty fat so it could be a female.

Long and skinny tale = male
Short and fat tale = female.

The one picture you have showing the tale kinda looks long and fat. Better pics will know for sure.

Hi, and welcome to the Forum!

Redfooted tortoises (Geochelone carbonaria) come from South America near the rain forest. They are used to living in humid conditions. You should have him set up in a large habitat with substrate that you can keep moist, but not wet, with lots of plantings for him to hide under. In case you can't get tortdad's link to work, here's the same place, different link:
