I knew I shouldn't have shared the story of Bob ramming the corner of his shed with Taco!

Now she thinks she needs to emulate this naughty behavior!

I returned home from an awards ceremony, and just look at what I found!!

The little stinker had bulldozed her moss plant right into her water dish!

I have scolded her, but she has not shown one iota of remorse! I am at a total loss...Maggie, what should I do?!

Very cute Scooter. I agree. :D I guess Taco didn't like being left alone.

Jackrat's right! Tough love.

(And Taco is a Chaco tortoise, not a redfoot.)

Sorry about that Stephanie, not sure what made me think she was a redfoot.

I've tried frog moss, some other terrarium moss, club moss, and none of it survives... They didn't even get the chance to be bulldozed lol

Take away her toys and make her stand in the corner...

Well, I will do just that!

She's standing in the corner of her hide. I told her to stay there till morning and just think about what she did! ;)

[And, Charlotte, don't worry about the Redfoot/Chaco thing...I won't tell her...we don't want another temper tantrum!]

Classic moment! And who said tortoises have no personality :p. Alfie likes to ram on the glass in her tank when she feels that she isn't being paid enough attention and wants food or baths.

Maybe a sticker chart :) or bribery!!!

Actually I think she was miffed that I fluffed up the nice flat hay hollow that she had beaten down in her outdoor hide...it's been decently nice (about 50+ degrees) to put her out for some sunshine and fresh air for 30 minutes or so this last few days. She isn't ever happy with us when it's time for her to come in.

I can't wait till it's warm enough to put her out in that playpen and give her a few hours of romping in the grass at a time. ;)

I'm a little lost. Did you put moss in there for her to ram it? Did you put the moss in there because she rammed the glass??

Hah! You're just making fun of me because you can see how poorly the moss was faring before Taco decided to relocate it. ;)

Stanley, the moss is supposed to help retain humidity. Plants in general do that, but Jordan kills all of his plants and so he's jealous if any of us have live ones. Of course, we're mostly all just trying to imitate Terryo, who has a gorgeous vivarium full of lush, healthy plants growing all over the place for her turtles and Redfoot to enjoy...:p

Well Stephani, I'm starting to wonder if Pio is a true tortoise. He never messes up his viv. and he never eats the plants. He just sits on his love rock all day. (I'm starting to think he is really basking on that rock instead of loving it.) OMG! He must be a "neat freak"!

I'm going to find some of those photos to post on Taco's wall...she can learn from Pio's good example...do you think that would work on Bob? ;)

On a different thread we were introduced to the Frog Moss as a way to keep the substrate from being dragged into the water dish. The picture showed Terry O's beautiful habitat with the frog moss all around the dish and flush with the floor. Sort of like the tortoise would be wiping his feet on the mat before he went into the water. You can see from Stephanie's picture that Taco didn't agree with the flat version of the moss.

I think Pio just hasn't gone through that teenage rebellious stage yet. Also he hasn't realized yet that there might be a big worm under that moss.
