Small half log shade for russian

Hello buddies, I have a small question about keeping a tortoise in the home.
Is a hollow half side log okay to keep a 6 inch russian tortoise in for shade? I ask because I am worried if she will develop pyramiding in the shell.

Assumption outside enclosure......Hollow half log is great with substrate underneath to make it comfortable. There should be other shade as the log will get hot so ensure a leafy plant or shrub is available for deep shade. Tortoise need choices of cool and hot , clean fresh water 24 x7 and food.
