Hi

It's a lovely Easter Monday here on the south coast of England, so I've given Shirley a first run out in her outdoor enclosure.
It's still early spring, so not much growing in there, but in a month or so most of the bare soil on show will hopefully have tort friendly weeds and flowers flourishing.
She has places to hide (inside the hut, under bushes, half submerged plant pot, chimney section of an old broken chiminea which you might be able to see her hiding behind) places to bask (the tor and her conservatory) and will have things to eat when they grow. I'm thinking of growing some house leeks and other Mediterranean herbs in her conservatory.
No heating/lamp in the hut, I don't fancy putting power in so it's a summer only retreat.ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1428327009.043404.jpgImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1428327028.619160.jpgImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1428327050.046878.jpgImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1428327066.256261.jpgImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1428327077.977540.jpgImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1428327089.868739.jpgImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1428327106.624850.jpg

That is superb! Your tort is lucky to have it and will certainly enjoy it.

Few more pics now Shirley's retreat has become a bit more established.

I hadn't appreciated how big the pot marigolds were going to get, might thin them out a bit.

I also have a series of successionally sown rocket/lambs lettuce etc to plant out over time. I found that when I sowed them directly into her enclosure she destroyed them before they had a chance to establish, so I work a bit more on a conveyor belt system now!

Given night temps are 20c in the current British heatwave, I'm leaving her out there over night at the moment. She loves it. Barring topping her water up, I reckon she could pretty much get by without any human intervention (although I still intervene for bath time and to give her additional weeds etc).
