Lucky duck!

Aren't they amazing? I hope for a day when captive breeding will allow more dedicated private keepers to work with this species. While this may be unlikely, one can hope...
I'm thinking "deadheadvet" would enjoy meeting my nephew Chris, dontchathink Tom?

Coming from a zoo background I can't think of a single reptile species that has been breed to the point of being plentiful due to breeding in zoos. In the private sector there are hundreds of species now super common due to breeding by private parties. No reason these beautiful tortoises shouldn't be better represented in captivity.

Aggravates me when I see the bins full of them in pictures. We breed better as private keepers than any zoo. Give me a few. there wont be a shortage any more. :)
