Hey everyone,

Just got my new hatchling Dalmatian Hermann "Hendrix!" He was born on 9/10/12, (4 days before my own birthday:)) and he has really been active since this morning. Here are some pictures of him and his enclosure which is a rubber maid 36.4 X 15.8 X 13.9 bin but it's sitting inside my 2ft X4ft table which he will he moved into when he gets bigger. Here are some pictures of Hendrix, his enclosure, and some older pictures of my Redfoot Pablo who was just bought by a new owner in florida! Let me know what you guys think:

That kinda' looks like "light overkill," Nick.

one of them is a Ceramic Heater

the other two are a basking lamp and a UVB

Nick-I agree with Yvonne, that is light "overkill". Why the che? Unless your night time temps are below 50-55 degree at night there is no need for night time heat and the lights should more than heat up the enclosure during the day. Both the incandescent and mvb are producing a lot of heat. What are the temperatures within the enclosure? A better choice for baby tortoises and small enclosures is an incandscent for basking and a fluorescent tube type UV light. The spot light style mvb's a great for larger enclosures and for use with larger tortoises. They produce a very localized heat, light and uv forcing a baby tortoise to sit under it at all times to benefit from the light and uv even when it doesn't need the heat. Having to do so can lead to dehydration. This is why the incandescent/uv tube is a better combination.
