We have notice that our male and female tortoises seem to be mating the last week but there only just over the age of 2 do you think there just acting it out for dominance or could they really be mating if so do we need to separate them. Or are they OK left together

Breeding goes by size, not age. But I would separate them anyway. It could very well be dominance. It's stressful for two tortoises to be living in the same territory, and unnatural. In the wild tortoises don't live together, and when one tortoise sees another come into his territory, he fights to chase it away.
