Hey all,

My name is Kelly and I am new to this forum. I am normally a lurker instead of a poster, but I would like to eventually change that.

I have been into tortoises for about 12 years now and have had several species, but I now only deal with Brazillians. I have a 1.2 breeding group who surprised me with 2 hatchlings on 1-20-08. This is after 185 incubating days. :p

I also have 2 hatchlings from Terry K., and 3 sub-adults. Let me see, 4 dogs, 8 cats and 40,000 turkeys. LOL I am a turkey farmer.

I guess that is it for now. I look forward to learning more about everyone soon.

Thanks.

Kelly

Welcome Kelly! Good to see someone from back home. Im guessing since your Turkey farming your probably somewhere in the NW part of the state? I grew up in central AR, in North Little Rock and Cabot. I just moved north from AR last April to WI.

Congrats on the two hatchlings, that one popping out of the egg is a really cute pic. Love the colors on the little hatchling.

LMAO. That is why I decided to write my name as ARKelly. Makes it just a little less confusing.

Yup I think that area is the poultry capital of the world! lol Nothing but chicken and turkey houses everywhere you look. My aunt and uncle bought an egg production farm somewhere up there. lol

I know it can get pretty cold up there. I was born and rasied in NW Indiana so we always had the wind and cold and all the lake effect snow. It has been pretty chilly here also, but nothing like up there.

Thanks Crazy1. I am still trying to figure out how to take close up shots of by babies without washing them out with the flash, but once I perfect it, I will post many photos. :p

Thanks again,

ARKelly

I do not know Danny, is being Kelly23 a good thing or a bad thing? :p

Regardless, that is me. I have not been on there in awhile, but I still lurk from time to time. Between my torts and the turkeys, time is limited.

How did you know that?

I have way to good a memory :D Great to see you've gotten your first hatchlings, especially after all you've been through.

Thank you very much Danny. It was not easy getting here after that last disaster, but I stuck through it and the Good Lord has blessed me. Of course, I will not be making the same mistake twice. :)

If y'all think it's confusing.. I'm trying to keep up with all those turkey's.. and kids.. TOO!!

Kelly [ AR ] was instrumental in starting my current Brazilian { aka Cherryhead } breeding program. Thank you.. you're a sweetheart! So I've been able to help her ENDURE the 6+ month incubator daze!!! And we finally figured out her camera "close-up" setting too!

Wattaya think of Kelly's FIRST Brazilian { Cherryhead } hatchlings?

She told me the other day that she will be keeping them.

Gee.. I wonder why?

Hey Terry, your making me blush. :shy:

Terry is my mentor and if it was not for him, I probably would not be where I am now.

I had no idea it required so much patience to breed tortoises. LMAO.

I am hoping to get some better pictures of the babies soon. Hopefully they will not be so "washed out" by the flash.

Been busy cleaning up mold off the wall today. :( Now I smell bleach where ever I go.
