Found a tortoise

Found a tortoise earlier today in the middle of the street. Took it in but don't know what to do with it or at least the species. Any tips never handled any animal of the sort.

Not a tortoise it's a turtle. Some kind of pond turtle. Its hard to tell with the picture . need other pictures.

Hi, and welcome to the Forum!

It's a water turtle, and because they're just so darned common, probably a red ear slider.

The turtle needs a pond. At that size it would be very difficult, not to mention expensive, to set it up in an aquarium big enough for it to live comfortably.

For now, put it in a bucket of shallow water.

Where are you located? I wonder if he may be native. Was the road he was on near a lake, pond, creek, etc?
