Okay I'll give y'all some insiGht, I used to work at Petco and I got to see a lot of jacked up stuff. Basically you had to have managers that cared about the animals in order for the animals to be sent to the vet. Luckily I had one, and I was like a hawk sending animals to vets, but I'll tell you this all the ones we got in came in sick from vendors. I remember one time getting in 12 ball pythons and one had mouth rot, i told the manager to send them all back, but he didn't......after a month all of them had mouth rot and died......it's the arrogance of managers that made them suffer as long as they did. And a lot of it is that no one in those stores known their products nor do they do research on any of the animals they sell, therefor they get the wrong diet. For example, our salt water so called specialist had a mortality rate of 97% on all of her fish......the moron was ordering reef fish and didn't eve realize that they survived off of copepods found on certain corals therefore we had $70.00 fish dieing left and right until the district manager gave me aquatics specialist. Within a month I had changed all the orders of the fish, checked and balanced all my water and within 6 months my mortality rate was 6%, and that was due too a small ich outbreak from a bad shipment. It's people who truly know and care about the animals that make the difference, not every Petsmart or petco will lie but ,the biggest majority I'll tell you only know enough about the animal because they read the petsmart or Petco care sheet and that's what they think makes them an expert......trust me our managers tried feeding me that junk and telling me that this is correct.......tortoises eat half fruit and the rest iceberg lettuce and pellets.....grrrrr
