I've been doing a very low key experiment with my baby sulcata. I would like to share my findings with everyone.
To start out, I give my sully 2 baths per day. Morning time is usually 15 mins, warm water. Night time is usually 15-20 mins warm water.
During the night time bath, he sits in his container soaking on the ledge of the tub while I shower. I like to expose his to warm humid air. When I'm finished washing up, I will take him into the shower with me.
I cup him in my hands and let the shower spray on his back and bum. By cupping my hands this creates a pool of water for him to soak in. This pool however only soaks his left side, including his front and back left leg. I allow him to soak/sleep like this for a few mins. I decided never to reposition him in order to soak his right legs, which led to my experiment.
I've been doing this daily for about 4 months. 5 mins daily for 4 months has already had a small affect on his scale growth on this legs. The side that gets extra soaking time, has beautiful, strait lines of scales whereas the side with less exposure has more of a jagged growth that appears less orderly and neat.
This is a small experiment, but even on such a small scale, I can already tell his body is growing slightly different depending on how much soaking time he gets. It's hard to see , you really have to analyze the photos and it's much better to see him in person.
Happy Torting!
