Tortoise Table Questions

Hello, I'm getting set to build a table for my 9 month old Greek named Archimedes. Was wondering if there were any specific water proofers/stains that were recommended and how long I should wait after they dry to put him in. Thanks!

I seal all the edges with water-proof caulk, then cover the insides with a few coats of Thompson Water Seal.

Let it set outside for about a week in the sun, just to be sure the fumes were all gone (more for my asthmatic daughter's sake, as my tortoises weren't moving back inside for a few more months).
