I have a 3 year old Redfoot Tortoise named Kathy. I have been using Aspen bedding but recently somebody on here told me that was bad. What kind of substrate should I be using?

HI...the aspen bedding is just a "less" desirable substrate :D You may want to try something like;

http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2783817&KPID=3850367&pla=pla_3850367

If you use this material just be aware that when you moisten it for the initial use, it takes a LOOONNNNGGGG time for it to absorb the water...but be patient, then each time there after that you add water it easily absorbs alot...I would suggest that you offer the substrate at about 5 or 6 inches deep, this will allow the material to absorb and then add a bit on the top to allow a dryer top layer but moisture retained below...you may also want to figure a way that works to cover most of the top of the enclosure---this will allow humidity to build as well as heat to be retained in the enclosure...:D
