Hi. I'm a soon to be first time greek tort owner. I just purchases this reptile hollowed half log and it keeps giving my micro splinters when I handle it (from the under/inner side). I don't see anyone complaining about that online, so is my log not properly sanded/is it defective??? My main question is, will this be dangerous to my tortoise? Please let me know if you have any experience with this. I don't know if Torts can even get splinters. :(

I have never experienced this issue with one of those half logs.

Just to be safe, why not put on some leather gloves and give it a rub down with some sand paper?

My half-log just kept growing mold so I had to throw it out. I'd be mostly concerned with splinters getting in their eyes, so sanding is probably your best bet.

okay. Thank you so much. I didn't think that was normal. The outer layer of the log is fine. I will make sure to sand the inside before I get my Tortoise! :)
