Tortoise Bedding

Hello! I just bought two African sulcata tortoises, can I use the sand used for cats and dogs? If not, what can I use? There is some sand down in the neighborhood, but I don't think it's a good idea to bring any sand without knowing what's in it, I searched a lot but can't find sand that's specific for tortoises, please help I can't leave my tortoises without a bedding for long.

You shouldn't use sand. It can cause impaction. Many members of this forum use fine grade orchid bark for there tortoises. It works great for them.

Thank you for the advice! I'm gonna look for it in my grocery shop I hope I find it or I find something suitable as bedding.

For Sulcata They recommend orchid bark, cypress mulch, or coco coir.

No sand and no soil. At any pet shop look for "Repti-Bark". It is fine grade fir bark. Its the best way to go. Make a thick layer of it at least 7-10cm, and keep it damp.
