The bigger of the two pens I let grow out this whole spring after seeding it again with a variety of tortoise friendly plants. Its 95 square feet. There is chicken wire embedded 14 inches down along the fence line and then across the whole pen. I also added a new door and lock to keep curious mammals out at night . I expect about 12 days before they destroy every plant in there like every year though haha
The smaller one was yesterdays project and is 36 square feet . I put it up for our two year old. Which reminds me I should post her to see if she might be a cherry head after all. She was a rescue so I had no prior history on her . Although her Plastron is getting darker, she has enlarged red elbow scales and her nose is a bit larger than my other reds it still isnt my forte to claim her as one. So what do you think?
Anyway here is some photos of our back yard pens.

I still have cement pads buried under part of my largest pen. (The part that was the original pen.)
I also thought that my Redfoot will dig.
They wont.
Just a few inches to lay eggs.

I guarantee you they will dig. I have had to refill holes both my girls made as they tried to dig out. Mind you in order for them to get under the fence they have to go 8 inches down and then back up again. I also have one that climbs into the lower branches of that Mullberry bush so she can eat the berries ahead of the bigger one haha .I have seen her as far as 16 inches up. Everything you think the wont or cant do they laugh at and do it anyway.
