My little tortoise house I built for brumation is a success.

We've gotten into some pretty low temperatures, a free sample if you will, of what's to come this winter. It has consistently maintained 50 degrees F on nights in the mid twenties. The lowest its dropped is to 44 so far.

I have dirt, mulch, and leaves I've raked from the yard on top.

When it gets into the 70's I do crack it a bit so it doesn't get too hot.

The bad thing is, if it doesn't stay a consistent low for brumation, it's going to be much more dangerous than a constant low. That's why most that don't live in a constant winter cold needs to brumate in a frig.
Hope it works out okay.
