ok so before I get into this torque isn’t even 1 yet, he/she turns 1 January 1st...

I know it’s probably way too early to tell and know things could change later on - thought this would be cool and fun and maybe one day it could help someone :)

Do you think torque is a male or female? Why?

I think a male as of right now - from reading different things I think that because of the V anal scutes and it also looks like his plastron is starting to concave - if I’m wrong about the reasons why please tell me!

Do you think male or female?? Let’s see who’s right ;)

for south african leopards it's very difficult to call it until they are 8-10" . It's a great looking tortoise but give it just another 1-3" of growth. The anal scutes and tail can change dramatically in just a few months of good growth. Keep us updated!

Thank you! I know how things can drastically change...thought this would be fun and possibly educational for new tort owners to stumble upon - will definitely keep everyone updated!

Regardless of the sex I will love my little torque the same! :<3::)

You have the right indicators, but those indicators don't show up until they are a little older and the hormones start flowing. The best early indicator is tail size, and torque is still right in the middle. Could go either way. You can usually tell with these guys between 18 and 24 months of age, so you don't have much farther to go.
