If a box turtle has 3 toes on its back feet, is that absolutely a TTBT even if its carapace looks like an Eastern? Check out the photos of my friend's wild backyard turtle- I think that thread is in the general section with the topic "help with photos" Thanks!

No. Is the simple answer. There are individuals within all subspecies of Terrapene carolina that have three toes. Some TTBTs have four toes as well as some clangs and ybt. Though turtles in the inter grade zones and particularly the zone of extensive inter gradation can have characters of all subspecies in the U.S.A.

I just realized there are a few typos. The clangs should be flabts and MBTs. You gotta love autocorrect.
