After reading Killuchen's post about shell rot I came up with a question. I mist my baby Sulcatas about 3-5x/day. When the humidity level starts to drop in their enclosure I will dampen the substrate to raise it back up. They nap, and sleep all night, in their humid hide & the humidity level in there is around 85%. So a lot of times they're crawling around on damp substrate or exposed to moisture. Is there a preventive measure that can be taken to assure they won't get shell rot without compromising the humidity level in their enclosure?... Oh, and yes I do have a portion of the enclosure that I do not mist or dampen, but it's only about 1'x1'. Thank you!!

I use cypress mulch in mine- the water drains down so the top layer is not usually wet enough to cause a problem. In my own experience, it is the spongier substrates that cause the most issues.

Well a lot of people always say that you can plant plants, like small rainforest plants.
