Hi,
I've noticed my Moroccan Greek tortoise has had some spots appear on its shell and I was wondering if it was of any concern.

I don't know if it's simply related to it's shell pattern but I'd rather be safe than sorry!

Just to clarify it's the whitish spot in the center of the shell and the other spot below it.

Those spots look fairly normal to me (assuming I am properly interpreting what you mean).

Ah that's great.

Yh it's just that strange looking white cluster on the shell plates. When you zoom in on it too it looks very odd looking.

Do you know what it is?

Also, my other tortoise has these white patterns on the shell too, are these of any concern?

The first pic looks fine to me, just dry looking. Be sure you are adding the proper humidity to their enclosure.
The second pic is also fine. Many tortoises get those squiggly kind of marks. We aren't sure why, but they are of no harm.

Hi Do a search for "white squiggly lines" if you want to read all about it, but here is the short version: Its normal and not harmful. No one knows what it is.

As Sarah2020 said, those little lines are normal and not harmful or problematic. No one seems to know what causes them, but many healthy tortoises have them.

I would guess that the spots on the first tortoise are probably caused by the same thing as the little white lines. They are both possibly increased channels (Haversian canals) in the underlying bone due to growth taking place in young tortoises.
