I had gotten a large pumpkin probably about two weeks ago. After I cut it into chunks, I stored the leftovers in some tupperware in my fridge.

I noticed today that just under the outer skin on the pumpkin, the flesh seems to be going moldy. It looks like maybe the outer 1/8" of the pumpkin is starting to mold.

If I cut the molding part away, is the inner flesh still safe to feed my tortoises or should I just chuck the whole thing?

How can I store pumpkin to make it last longer once I start cutting pieces off, my torts are so small, they can't even come close to eating a whole pumpkin quickly. Can you freeze it?

Thanks

You can usually just cut off the outer part. I believe you can also freeze it if you want to keep some long term. I'm working through a large pumpkin for my guys too. It's their fall treat.

Yes you can freeze it. Also, i have bought some of the really small ones, not as much waste. Store whole ones in dark cool/cold place.
