Round and flat upper shell??

I was taking a look at Hermes shell today and noticed one half is normally rounded while the other half has scutes that are flat. Is this normal or should I be concerned?

Hard to tell without seeing some photos of what you're referring to.

A picture would be helpful, but it is possibly an expression of MBD. As long as you give the tortoise plenty of calcium and sunshine, he will survive it, but the shell will always be oddly shaped.

Can we have a photo and details on your set up?
