Hello ,
I have an adult female Red Eared Slider. Who lives in a 1,000 gallon outdoor pond. For the past week she has been showing clear signs of having eggs (searching for place to dig, not eating). This morning I noticed she had begun laying eggs in the water. I was able to spot 3 eggs at the bottom of the pond.
I also noticed she was struggling to lay an egg and it seemed almost stuck. I had hoped that she would be able to lay it but it has now been around 6 hours and she is out of the water basking with the egg still attached. I will post pictures below. If you have any ideas as to what is happening plz let me know. Thank you
I will update if she lays it ?

This is not something that can be handled over the internet. You need to put her in water to prevent further drying of her internal organs and have her evaluated by an emergency service.

That's looks pretty serious. You probably need to take this turtle to an exotic vet asap.

I have her in the pond now. It definitely looks like some sort of prolapse. Sadly their is no exotic vet open near me right now. I will be watching her very closely and hopefully get her to a vet as soon as possible.

If there are other turtles in the pond, the smell of her bruised organs may provoke attacks.

She really should be set up in a quarantine tank with clean shallow water so she can rest safely and be under observation.

We just got back from the Vet. They were able to fix the prolapse by hand. ?thanks for responding
Great to hear! I thought it would require much more treatment. Be sure to keep a look out for it again. Glad your girl is feeling better!
