While trolling the plant clearance rack at Lowes, I found pinto peanut plants for one dollar each. A quick Internet search showed that the flowers and leaves are edible. I bought five and placed them in my three active pens. 24 hours later and all reachable leaves are gone. Yummy!!

I love trolling plant racks, right now there are good sales going on too (because of the end of the growing season) but I've never seen a peanut plant! Aren't they trees? On that note, can they eat the peanuts? I'll have to look next time I'm browsing!

What site do you use to check if plants or edible. I use the uk tortoise table plant data base but so many of the plants names from local nurseries can't be found.

I typed a search for "Pinto Peanut edible?" They are kind of a crawling vine, ground cover plant less than 6" tall. Not a real peanut as in the type we all eat. In fact each plant grows peanuts underground and they actually are listed as NOT edible. ..
