About two weeks ago one of my RFs, Blossom, started acting oddly.

She was normally very active, and ate a TON. she then, out of no where, stopped eating and started just laying with her head out and not moving around very much.

Ive had her isolated since i noticed it. Her left eye looks weird, and her head seems like it may be a bit swollen. I cant feel any fluid or anything on her head or neck, but Ive included some pictures for you guys to look at.

The Vet has been giving her Fortaz.

Really hoping she gets better, its one of those things where I love all of my torts, but she really is one of my favs.

Praying for the best, Steve

Welcome to the forum. We have a lot of Redfoot owners on here with a lot of experience. I was wondering what was the diagnosis of your tortoise when you took her to the vet? I was also wondering how is she kept? Enclosure, temps., humidity level? :)

I'm not seeing any swelling, just some dehydration. What has the vet prescribed Fortaz for? From your description it sounds like your Redfoot has a protozoan problem. Flagyl should fix that up for you.

I took Flagyl myself before. It's neat to know that it can help Torts too.
I'm still new to Torts so I don't have any advice. But I wanted to say she is beautiful and I hope she feels better soon :)

How do you have her set-up?

Danny

She Stays outside, in a pen with grass, clovers, and a ton of hibiscus plants. Fed 4 times a week, they have multiple water spots.

Is she still outside? What are your temperatures outside? Do you run a sprinkler in the enclosure at least once a day?
If she's not moving much and not eating, than she isn't hydrating herself and you should be soaking her at least once a day.

I was going to ask for more details about the cares as well until Danny beat me to it, but I really don't think we have enough data yet to really help you. I for one would like to know more about the climate info- temps, humidities at tort level, how the cage mates are doing, etc.

The Climate is central FL. constantly around 85-95. Humid as hell. I provide artificial rain for about 2 hours every other day with a misting sprinkler.

The other torts are in great shape. Actice running around.
