So this is the new enclosure for our 2 month old hatchling. Currently we have a 20 gal. glass tank until we build a enclosed enclosure. We have a 50/50 mix of repti bark and coconut eco earth. We have the 100 watt basking light and che over the left side and the hide on the left side which has the spahgnum moss in it. The cool side is 82* and the warm side glass temp shows 92* with the jot spot at about 100*. The humidity is 62%. His wqter is under the light and he loves sitting in it. We spray it down when humidity drops and we will be making a cover out of plexi glass tobhepp hold heat and humidity in. So as a temp...is this looking/sounding okay? Tom...how'd I do? Lol:p

Looks good, but I'm a nit-picker. I never go on and on about whats right, I always notice what could be better. Adding some water to the substrate should bump your humidity up a bit. Is it staying 80 or better at night too? Finally, I just think a 20 is too small. You are doing good with what you've got, but try to get him into something bigger ASAP. With good temps, humidity and diet, he is going to outgrow that enclosure within a couple of months.

I hate to be such a downer, but I'm critical of my own set ups too. I'm constantly tweaking them to try and make them just a little better...

Its okay Debbie Downer...you mean well. :p j/k And we turned the CHE off a few hrs ago and it is sitting at 79.2* on the cool side and 82* on the warm side with 81% humidity. This is a temp as we are planning a build but really want to do our research. Thanks again...and btw, where can I find Mazuri?

If you haven't found the Mazuri already you can go to Tortoisesupply.com and order a pound. Or, maybe 2 pounds is their minimum. Since you have a hatchling I shouldn't think you would need more than that. There are some other folks on the forum that sell it. You might find it at a local feed store that sells Purina brands or sometimes Petco has it. While you are at Tortoise Supply you might want to pick out a seed mix that you can grow in pots. The Testudo mix is an excellent choice.

You don't want to be turning your CHE on and off and having temp spikes during the day and drops at night. Get a thermostat, set it and forget it. It will hold your ambient where you want it day and night.
