...gotta keep an eye on him ;)
The weather was great yesterday, so I took him out for lunch :p
I was very surprised when he started eating grass! He really seems to enjoy it.
He'll be two in less than two weeks!

More grass eating (not choking, which is what it looks like he's doing!)

Yup, so do all four of mine ;)

I see people say all the time that Russians won't eat grass. Heck, even my Redfoots eat grass, and no, they aren't doing it because they aren't getting enough of other stuff ;) In the winter I buy pots of organic wheatgrass and the Russians annihilate them in 10 minutes flat.

So yes, Russians most definitely DO eat grass ;)

Aww Katie, Nelson is gorgeous  !!!! You must be one proud mama ;). You are so lucky that he likes grass, all Hermy eats when he is outside is dead grass and dirt... Thanks for sharing the beautiful pics with us :)

I love, love, love Nelson. He is one of the best looking little Russian Tortoises that I've ever seen. I do see where he passed up that dandelion though, what's up with that? :D Fernando would have eaten that right up. :p I will expect to see his birthday celebration pictures in a couple of weeks with his hat on. :D I wonder what you'll be getting for him? ;)

Thanks everyone, you're so sweet :)
Candy- he doesn't like dandelions very much! He has probably only eaten a few dandelion (flowers) in his life. Of course he eats anything I put in front of him, but on his own he'll walk right past them.
I haven't even thought about his present, I have so much going on lately!! Maybe an outdoor enclosure! He would love that :D

Great looking baby Russian. Both of our Russians eat grass fairly often, too, but not as often as they eat wild forbs and grocery greens.
