Missing Toe Nails?

I was just wondering if this is a deformity or some how the little torts broke their nails off? Well i assumed that the nails would grow back and that maybe the nails some how got broken off before i received them? I was just roaming around the forums and saw that all the little torts has a full set of nails. My little guys seem to be healthy but it just struck me that some of them only have a few toe nails. Is this normal and will it be growing back?
