Is this like smoking a pack a day? ...buying a Tort a month?
Found a Craigslist score...."Larry"!!!
Golden "Greek" (I hate the name, since they are not from Greece, rather North Africa...from what I've read in numerous dissertations).
Larry comes with hundreds of dollars in reptile/tortoise supplies ..from lamps, bumbs, food...to rocks and pools and an incredible enclosure. I'm thrilled!!! $100 score! Not to mention I'm already in love with this shy little man.
The girl is in college, young, broke and admitted to not being able to afford his upkeep. Hats off to her for being responsible, admitting defeat, and looking for a new home. She was almost in tears to have a vet tech and already "broken in" Tort owner come get him. He will be spoiled rotten here.
She bought him at Petco 3 months ago, so he can't be too old. I'm guessing. Seems healthy and active. I came home, immediately set up his house and gave him 2 warm areas and a cool area and I'm leaving him alone to adjust. He's got his familiar food, substrate and rocks. I'm not thrilled with the Good Mews cat litter, but it is what he came with and is familiar. I will graduate him to something more suitable soon. Mo the Sulcata has bark mulch and peat moss. Is that ok for Greeks?
I'm open to any tips and suggestions to make his transition less stressful.
Thank you all for your love and support.
