Oh wait. . . are you talking about grass growing in the yard? I've added oyster shell to newly seeded grass yard, and incorporated it into the soil with the seeds, hoping that will up the calcium level in the soil for the plants to absorb. Don't know if it works or not, but made me feel better about it.
LOL! When you said 'lime' I thought you were talking about the fruit, not the additive. Here in Central California our ground is so hard we use gypsum. Lime would work too. A couple years ago when I planted a tortoise greens garden I added lime to the soil along with the oyster shell.
