My wild grapevine has gotten away from me and has taken over a lilac and a redbud tree. I pulled some down today but if the leaf of these 2 trees are safe to feed it will be much easier to prune everything back and feed it all together a little at a time. I believe I read here a while back in some post that they both are safe foods. Any help will be appreciated. Last fall I removed all the vine from these 2 plants and didn't notice how aggressive the grapevine was growing back over them this spring ,it is an old vine well over a 100 feet long and wanting to grow more.vinecover.jpg

From what I could find, Redbuds are a legume, part of the pea family, and contain saponins and are high in protein so they are not recommended, although an occasional flower or leaf probably won't hurt. Just keep them away from the seed pods.

Thanks to both of you. This is the first year for seed pods on the redbud, it's a young tree started from seed from a friends tree.
