10-12 hours is normal. 14 is a little too long. However, it won't hurt them. They are probably tucked into bed before they go off anyway, right ?

Does the forest bulb have UVB? Do they get too heat upto at least 85 degrees? I don't know of a blue basking bulb.

I usually have my timers set to come on shortly after sunrise and go off shortly before sunset. I prefer for the lighting to gradually increase and decrease in brightness rather than on/off.

Babies do hide alot. If it seems bright enough, but not too bright for them. Then they are acting normal. I would cut the hours of light down though, save some money on the electric bill:D
