Hey guys!

I am getting a baby leopard in a month or two and want to make sure I have a great home for it during its first few years. It will be an indoor enclosure because we are in an apartment but we will be moving in the near future, until then I would LOVE to make a tortoise table for it. Does anyone know of anyone that has plans for making one that I could duplicate? Are all tortoise tables the same or should a leopard be different then a different species? Any help would be great!! Thanks!!

Baby leopards are great :) I am on my 4th and 5th ones now.

I'd like to suggest that you consider an enclosure that isn't a tortoise table. If you are a builder you should build a closed chamber for your new baby. We know that when these guys hatch in the wild it is hot, humid and rainy. This is the environment you want to try and mimic so your tort can grow naturally smooth. The bumpy look (pyramiding) is un natural. Using a closed enclosure allows you to recreate these conditions for the tort without having to covert your whole room/house into Africa!

Search the forum for a thread called "The End of Pyramiding II" and one called "Closed Chambers". I'd link to them for ya but I am not very good at doing that while on my phone app :p

These will give you lots of great info on how to start your baby off right. Pop some popcorn, kick your feet up and read, read, read. Then ask some more questions and we can help you fine tune things to get your home just right :D

Amen to what Heather said! Closed chambers, hot and humid all the way!! Keep your temps up high when using humidity though. No lower than 27oC anywhere. Give Tom's threads a read, they're brilliant for raising smooth, healthy leopards.

Cute pic! Yes, got and humid is the way to go with babies. If you don't care too much for appearances a 50 gallon rubbermaid tote with the lid is the cheapest way to go.

What Tom said. What everyone above said. Congrats on your decision to get a little leopard. All tortoises rock, but leopards and those shells, are little works of art. Yay!
