When I originally posted in my introduction I stated that I thought that she is a she and not a he. The previous owner named "him" Spencer. But after I finally got to see "him" I believed him to be a her. Wow I hope that all makes sense. Anyways a couple people asked me to post some pics so we could get a more defined answer to the sex. So I finally go some and are posting them now.

Thanks again everyone.

I believe it to be female. Such a small tail and gulars. The plastrom appears to be flat as well.

Thats why I want to know its size. If its a 5 pound Sulcata then you really can't tell yet. If it's a 30 pound Sulcata then its a female.

That is a female, but it looks immature due to the shape of the anal scutes. How old and how big is this tortoise. In time that should start to from into a nice "U" shape. Right now its a tight "V" which is typical of juveniles of both sexes. Males will turn into a very wide spread out "V" and females will get the almost half circle looking "U". Some males don't get plastron concavity until they are much older and bigger. Some males never get really big gulars.

She is about 8 to 9 inches and weighs under 5 lbs. Age is 8 to 9 years old. I believe she is undersized for her age.

This brings up a question that I have been trying to find an answer to. What is considered a juvenile and what is considered an adult.

She is between 8 and 9 years old and weighs less than 5 lbs.

Ill try to take a pic of mine that looked a lot like yours. Everyone said female but then one day I went outside and saw him/her dragging around a giant sex organ. I just think its a hard call at 5 lbs.

That is a very tiny tail though

Seeing that would definitely be a shocker when you thought you had a female.

Thanks everyone for taking a look at the pics. We are new to this and are still trying to figure out everything.

Yes she is 8 to 9 years old. I have her in the new enclosure that I built her for the winter months.

Average temperature with covers off are 80 degrees and roughly 40 to 50 percent humidity. Basking spot at 110.
