I am new to this site but I joined because my Fiancé's parent's lost a desert tortoise recently from their backyard. They live in San Bernardino, California and I was seeking help in this site.

You can put up fliers on the utility poles in your fiance's neighborhood. Chances are good that a neighbor has found it and has no idea where to find its owner. They probably feel its a wild tortoise and aren't even looking for its owner.

It might also help to place a craigslist ad.
