I'm no expert but he looks like a Herman,i'm sure more will answer but it looks like a Herman

That is a Russian tortoise. Testudo horsfieldii. Its got a lot of new recent growth in the past few months.

That enclosure looks nice, but I wouldn't use that artificial turf under a tortoise. It is likely to try to eat it and that could cause a blockage. Ditto with the fake plants. All of mine try to eat those.

Thanks for your info. Just to say, Flash has lived in that enclosure for 5 years and thankfully he hasn't attempted to eat any of the grass or ornaments. He's in his high glory having so much room to run around indoors. During summer he has full run of the garden.

Many of us in the UK have been given old and incorrect information about tort care from pet shops, social media, breeders and even some non specialist vets so in case you haven't found it this is the most up to date caresheet -


Your enclosure looks very nice; does Flash also have an area of deep moist substrate where he can dig and bury himself? Russians love that.
