You can but I find mine to be active around and above 43 degrees, which means she is burning calories. If you can’t keep it more or around 38-41, I wouldn’t use it. Other keepers may feel differently about minimum temperatures.

We set up ours like this to keep temps stable: http://www.tortoisetrust.org/articles/Refrigerator.htm. It took about a week’s fiddling to get things just so.

Due to some “surprise” overcast weather this year, we could not get the small refrigerator temps stable in a timely fashion; she ultimately ended up in the house fridge. :eek:
