my tortoise is a hatchling about 7-5 months old. I found him in my yard in September and decided to keep him. He's an inside tortoise and I attepmted to put him in hibernation this winter and he never stayed asleep. He'd come out of his rock so I would feed him and now that I'm hearing some tortoises are coming out I figured I'd boost his temperature back up. Is this bad?
Also, his neck and hind legs are peeling. It's new skin right under not red or anything.
Anyone have answers? I would appreciate it. Thank you in advance

Hi Clarissa:

It is normal for the skin on baby tortoise's neck to peel.

I generally don't hibernate babies until they're about 3 years old, so set this baby back up indoors with heat and lights, and soak him in warm water daily for about 15 minutes.
