I have six RF tortoises all adults. Five of them live in one pretty large pen. The pen has two very large drainage pipe half sections. One very large sideways flower pot and two extra large "dog houses" for lack of a better description. They use all of these to sleep, etc.
My issue is that on most days I will find all five of these torts jammed into one of these features. Yesterday it was a drainage pipe. They were jammed in so tightly that none of them could get out at feeding time. The whole pipe just moved. When I lifted it and pulled every one out, it was a stinking mess. One or more of them had fouled the place and they were all covered in poo. Most unpleasant.
I know that this is some type of an aggression thing, but how can I tempt them to bed down separately? And not all jam together.
(This is one male and four females.)

Perhaps putting them where you want them as they are settling in? That is what I do when my Russians all try to sleep in the same corner in their box. I move some to other corners.
