Help!! Need some expert identification !

To the great people of the Tortoise Forum,

My friend has had this tortoise for quite some time now and
he says that it is a Sonoran desert tortoise, while I am saying that
it is a tropical type. Can anyone identify the species?

While I must admit, it does look a bit like a redfooted tortoise, I'm afraid your friend wins this bet. Its a desert tortoise. Hard to tell from the picture...but it looks like there's something wrong with the eyes??

That does appear to be a Sonoran, but I cannot identify from that angle 100%.


Looks like it has a bit of pyramiding.

Yup....Desert tort...and pretty at that...

Though, I could be wrong about the pyramiding. I do not know a great deal about most desert torts.
