I am a new owner of a male russian tortoise. I found this site very informative when I was looking for so many answers to my questions after acquiring Boris from our local pet store. Thanks to all that have posted. I look forward to finding more information about russian torts on this site.

Nice having you join us! How long have you had Boris? Is owning a tortoise like you thought it would be? 
I have had him just a week now. I honestly wasn't sure what to expect having a tortoise. I have wanted one for awhile and for different reasons hesitated. I researched before getting him and than when we went to the pet store to get stuff for our other animals, I decided to go for it. I am not sure how old he is though.
My boyfriend made the comment last night that I act like I am a new momfor the first time because I kept checking on Boris and wondering if I am doing everything right...lol. I cannot tell you how much time I have spent looking online for answers and information to make sure I do it right.

The first time Mom behavior is a great sign in my opinion. Makes me think your going to be a wonderful caretaker.

I was the same way TortoiseMom... reading but NOT posting. After a month on the forum, I decided to start slowly by posting to the "newbie's" introduction posts. :shy: I remember the warm fuzzy feeling I got when I read all the welcome posts as a "newbie".
