Will double by one year... 5 to 6" by one year.
Its highly variable. Some grow extremely fast while others barely grow at all. 2.5" is small for 6 months old. My three hatchlings are all bigger than that at 3 months. I've had others in the past that grew slow like that too though.
Do you have a weight? If you don't have one, I'd get a digital kitchen scale at Target or Walmart and start charting his weight every few days.
How long have you had it? Is it pyramiding? Any chance it was kept too dry before you got it? Was it on rabbit pellets when you got it? I have a theory that sometimes abnormally slow growth is caused by chronic dehydration as a very young hatchling.
