Hello tortoise Forum,
I have a 48 x 18 x 16 terareium and i was wondering if there was a tortoise that would not outgrow this enclosure. Of course I will take it outside in the sun quite often but primarily it will live here. Im open to any suggestions.

Proud owner of a four yr old sulcata. who lives outside.

Have you considered a box turtle? I don't know much about the smaller tortoises so I dont know the size housing one would need...

I would second a box turtle, they tend to stay small, and you can create a nice environment in that size enclosure.

Another vote for a single box turtle, although a single Egyptian or a male Russian might do OK in that small a space, as well.

Anything larger would be kinda cramped.

Ok guys box turtle it is... they are cute little guys too!

The three I just got are amazing, nothing like seeing 2 hatching box turtles go after the same worm.
