Hello everyone,
I bought my tortoise a cuttlebone that is flavored with vanilla. Should I give it to him or better find one that has no flavor? Thanks for answers.

I don't know if it would hurt or not, but I would return it and get the plain ones.

I almost agreed with Barb, but then I thought - some tortoises just don't like the taste of cuttlebone. Why not give it a try and see if the tortoise will eat it. It certainly isn't harmful, and it just might get eaten!

I wouldn't try to encourage them to eat it more than they need to. They seem to know when their bodies needs the extra calcium. Encouraging them to eat too much with flavors might not be a good idea.

What a gimmick anyway, huh? Birds have no sense of smell, so I wonder why they would even come up with such a thing other than to sell it to humans...

I wouldn't :( My russain is horrible about eating his, so maybe a 'strawberry' flavored one would be delicious :p
