This Saturday I will be adopting a 1yr old Hermann's tortoise. I have to drive a little more than an hour to collect it from the breeder. I already have a leakproof container for the tortoise in the car. Just wondering what to do when I arrive home with the tortoise? I know to leave it alone for the rest of the day really as to not stress it out, but should I give it a warm soak before putting it in the enclosure for the first time?

Yes, give it a warm soak. Have the enclosure all ready with correct lights and heat and humidity before you get him. After the soak, put him in the enclosure, give him some food and leave him be until the next day. Then start your routine with him.

Thanks, I will do just that! And yes I am super excited to post some pics when he is more comfortable with the surroundings! 😁
